Understanding the Challenge

While Shazam is widely used for music recognition, it offers limited incentives for long-term engagement. Compared to other platforms, the app lacks interactive features and a strong connection to current music trends.

The challenge was to rethink how users discover trending music and create a feature that encourages exploration, interaction, and repeated use. (This work was a conceptual project and no official Shazam project)

The Approach

The “Live Trending” feature was reimagined to make music trends more visible, accessible, and engaging. The concept introduces a clearer structure and expands the feature with categories such as genres, local trends, and social media hits.

A strong focus was placed on simplifying the experience and guiding users intuitively through the discovery process. The feature is now integrated directly into the home screen, making it easy to access and interact with.

Additional functionalities like saving favorites, sharing trends, and exploring contextual insights (e.g. local or demographic data) enhance the overall experience and encourage deeper engagement.
